Sean Murphy

Owner and Builder

Born in Washington D.C. and raised in Arlington, Virginia, Sean’s passion for building started early. He learned the trade working alongside his grandfather, a retired builder turned handyman, on various neighborhood projects.

Over the years, Sean honed his skills from small painting jobs to larger projects like decks, kitchens, and home additions. For over a decade, he and his team have specialized in design-build work, focusing on strong relationships with clients—many of whom become friends.

Outside of work, Sean is a proud father of six and loves family activities like motocross, skiing, camping, and hunting. He’s also dedicated to his church and community. After moving to Shenandoah County in 2013, he has worked to expand ODBG’s services throughout Virginia and beyond.

Today, Sean manages daily operations, sales, client designs, and project oversight, balancing hands-on work with running a growing company.

Rick

Architect

Rick has been designing and building houses and home additions in the Washington metropolitan area since the mid 1970’s.

Raised in Bethesda, Rick graduated from Syracuse University School of Architecture in 1974 with a Bachelor of Architecture degree. He became a licensed architect in 1979. Rick has run his own design/build business, often doing the carpentry work himself.

His hands-on experience has given him insight into the building process that makes his designs cost effective and pleasing. Also, he’s fun to work with.

Rick joined Old Dominion Building Group in 2012, and he and Sean worked together to design projects. When Rick designs your home or addition the focus is you, your family, how you live, and the space you desire. We believe that the home owner is part of the team and we all work together to create and build amazing homes.

Rick is enjoying living in Arlington with his wife Barbara. Between them they have 5 sons, 2 daughters’ in-law, and 3 grandsons.
